Wolverine Hikes

People who know me know that I belong on the Trail. I've thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail (three times, now),the Pacific Crest Trail and the mighty Continental Divide Trail. I've hiked many of the long trails here in Michigan including being the first to hike both the Ironwood Trail and the Great Lake To Lake Trail. In 2017, I hiked the Israel National Trail and the Golan Heights Trail. I was the first to hike the Baja Divide Trail in Mexico but failed miserably to thru-hike the Bruce Trail in Canada. In 2019, I hiked the TEMBR in Ecuador and 1,150 miles of the North Country Trail as it runs through my home state of Michigan.

The purpose of this blog is to keep anyone who is interested informed of my progress and to encourage those who are able to support me in these endeavors.

Kennedy Meadows

Gateway to the Sierras.  Mile 702.  I set a goal to reach this place by 6-15.  I'm 4 days early, despite a few setbacks.  I have new boots, snow pants, new backpack, a new stove and much food.  Mind and body are in tune and ready for this!
Looking forward to climbing Mt. Whitney.  More to come!!!

I love that you're still wearing that chewed up hat!

Also, you are wearing my favorite type of pants....cargo pants. In fact, I have a pair on right this minute as I type this.

You look every bit the part of the very very serious hiker that you are. In fact, if there was..or is...a magazine called "Serious Hiker", you should be on the cover.

Good luck and enjoy this next trek. Looking forward to the pictures.

Hey! remember when it was winter and we were sitting downstairs looking at maps and figuring out when you needed to finish this hike due to weather? And you said, " I HAVE to be at Kennedy Meadows by June 15th. That means an average of 20 miles a day with almost no zeros! Do you think I can actually do it? I mean, gun to your head..what do you think?" ? I said. "Of course you can do it!" You were 4 days early. Mind is good. Knees are good. ANkles are good. Let's GOOOOO!
Walk on, my dear Wolverine!
