The Murals and Paintings of Ecuador
This post is a bit of a cop-out, I admit. It requires little to no effort on my part since there is hardly any writing to be done. However, I feel I must post it because some of the artwork I have seen in this country is so fantastic that I would be telling a lie of omission with regards to my adventure if I did not share it. ReplyDeleteI could be mistaken, but the Beatles on his chest are probably scarabs and also named dung beatles. Their symbolism is one of hope and reserection and maybe protection. The plant in his hand is most probably corn. It’s universal as lifegiving as the people’s would plant corn squash and beans together. I see this symbol used in a lot of blanket weavings of the native Americans. In the other hand, I don’t know if that is a pipe or something else. Anyway, thanks for sharing the the art works I thoroughly enjoyed it. It’s interesting that as a fine Arts graduate in college, we didn’t get into this part of the world. The focus of European and American art dominated. (Typical).
